Our commitment to sustainability is a fundamental theme in Our Purpose, and central to Our Bond, and Our Strategy, which define the way BlueScope develops, manufactures and sells steel products and solutions.

Steel is central to a circular economy – one where resources and materials are kept in use for as long as possible and then repaired, returned or recycled. Steel can be infinitely recycled and is 100% recyclable without loss of quality, in some cases it can be reused without reprocessing.

We recognise that steelmaking is emissions-intensive and we are committed to climate action. We strive to reduce the embodied carbon of our products, which is supported by our climate strategy and plans.

A number of our products, product disclosures, and operations are recognised by third-party programs and credentials, including rating tools such as Green Star™. These credentials are supported by our company-wide sustainability initiatives including those relating to responsible sourcing and supply chain sustainability and climate action.

We publicly report our sustainability performance, including greenhouse gas emissions, in our Annual Sustainability Report and Climate Action Report.
