EMBAR® steel is a flat bar range consisting of a variety of sections consumed in the building and infrastructure segments to accommodate multiple applications such as lintels, gussets, stiffeners, base plates and structural members.
EMBAR® steel is available in 33 section sizes, with either a precision machined edge (up to 12mm thick) or a thermal cut edge (for thicknesses 16mm, 20mm and 25mm) offering key benefits in terms of fabrication and handling. All standard products have a nominal minimum Yield Strength of 300MPa.
Manufactured with two different processes, the precision machined edge range, with a thickness up to 12mm, is manufactured at BlueScope Port Kembla, New South Wales, by slitting hot-rolled coil into narrower-width "mults", then cutting the "mults" into bar while the thermal cut edge with thicknesses of 16mm, 20mm and 25mm is manufactured at our Welded Products plant in Unanderra, New South Wales, by cutting plate into narrower-width strips (bars).
The precision machined edge is machined and deburred, offering a product with no burr- or sharp-edges, which provides fabrication benefits in terms of "fit-up" (alignment) of components for welding, and improved product- handling.
Manufactuered by BlueScope, EMBAR® steel conforms to relevant Australian Standards AS/NZS 3679.1:2016.
