Commissioning Milestone for New Metal Coating Line

Commissioning is underway for BlueScope’s new Metal Coating Line Number 7 (MCL7) at Erskine Park, NSW, marking an important step in our continued investment in Australian manufacturing.

The $415 million project will add 240,000 tonnes per annum of additional ZINCALUME® steel capacity, increasing metal coating capability to support growth in premium products, including TRUECORE® steel and COLORBOND® steel. Located at the Western Sydney Service Centre, the new line is progressing through commissioning, with operations expected to ramp up during 2026.

MCL7 is one of several major projects progressing across BlueScope’s operations, helping strengthen local supply and improve long term availability of premium steel products for Australian customers.

As highlighted in the latest project update, commissioning is progressing across key sections of the line while installation continues. This milestone reflects the strong collaboration across project teams, contractors and partners, alongside a continued focus on safety and the development of future talent within BlueScope.
